PSL3 Sharjah Leg: 3 best moments
The second segment of the PSL 3 is over, now heading into the make or break stage. While Multan and Kings are still on top and Qalandars firmly at the bottom, here are the best moments from this segment
- Imran Tahir’s Hat trick
Quetta Gladiators were already in deep trouble at 102-7, with 15.2 overs gone, but the dugout must have been hoping to complete their 20 overs to put up a respectable total on the board. Imran Tahir saw to that, with the third hat trick in the PSL, and the second of this season. Hassan Khan (bowled), John Hastings (bowled) and Rahat Ali (Lbw) fell together, taking Quetta’s winning chances with them. Tahir is now the member of the hat trick club, with Mohammed Amir and Juniad khan.

- Sammy’s one legged heroics
With 16 required of the last 7 balls to win against the Gladiators, Zalmi’s skipper Sammy limped to the middle. However, the injury he sustained while bowling did not seem to hamper his batting habits. With 2 sixes and a blasting four, he carried his side home, finishing with 16 off 4 balls. The deliciousness of the shots is one thing, but an appropriate end to the season’s first close contest was what made this special.

- Andre Russell’s sublime finish
Speaking of thrillers, the tightest contest of this season or any PSL season before was the 12th game; Islamabad United vs Lahore Qalandars. With Islamabad’ modest 121 on the board, Agha Salman’s (48) 73 run partnership with Brendon McCullum (34) looked to take the game away. However, a characteristic Qalandar collapse ensued, with the whole team tumbling to 121 all out. This brought the first super over in PSL history. Qalandar’s looked in control again, setting United 16 to win. But they were to remain winless. While some said that giving the bowl to Mustafizur instead of Narine handed them defeat, Russell’s six over the top of McCullum’s head is what really won it.
Match tied, Islamabad United win the Super Over!
