OSCARS 2017

PREVIEW:

The biggest night of Hollywood is upon us! This Sunday, the 89^th Academy Awards (commonly known as the Oscars) will take place to honour the finest films of the past year. 2016 wasn’t the best of years globally but it was still a great year for cinema. We got to witness numerous amazing movies. These include the dazzling and magical musical, La La Land, emotional drama films like Moonlight and Manchester by the Sea and the intellectual sci-fi epic, Arrival. 2016 also saw the release of many blockbusters like Captain America: Civil War, Suicide Squad, Deadpool and Rogue One: A Star Wars Story.

The Oscars will take place at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles on the 26^th of February. You can tune in to watch at 5:30 AM on Monday (Pakistan Time). This time round, the Oscars are going to be hosted by the very funny and witty television host and comedian, Jimmy Kimmel.

PREDICTIONS:

I’ll just say this up front. La La Land is going to win BIG. It is the most Oscar-nominated film in history (along with Titanic and All About Eve). It has been very successful both critically and commercially. Moreover, it has been winning all the major awards at the big awards shows up till now. Below are my predictions for each of the major categories:
