10 Songs to Listen to Before a Stressful Exam Session

Experiencing nervousness and anxiety prior to a big exam isn’t unusual at all. At some point in our lives – more-so frequently nowadays, we’ve all been through those gut reactions. And ironically, regardless of how many times we’ve been through the same sensations, it doesn’t seem to get easier till date.

However, one can always take up de-stressing options to drive out exam-driven anxiety; and what better way to do that than by turning up a playlist that literally does it for you?

Music will always be a convenient stress reliever – mostly because it’s enjoyable. I’m pretty sure people would have more intrinsic explanations to that. But if we’re talking about cognitive benefits, music can help you relieve stress and either stimulate your mindful notions to situational expectations, or just generally calm you down. You’ve been there, you know it. We’ve all harnessed the perks of classical music while studying. Namely, the original trouble-maker, Mozart. I know his melodies helped relax hundreds out there even if some like to alternate upbeat music to ‘wake up’.

This will undoubtedly be great strategy to gear up for tests amidst everything otherwise.

I wouldn’t call myself the ultimate standard for songs for the masses as per a really good friend, but I consequently had help.

  1.  COLDPLAY – STRAWBERRY SWING

This song makes some incredibly melancholic for some reason, but a great re-laxative for others. It’s human creativity at its peak. Just listen to it with eyes closed and you’ll know what I’m talking about. This proves that music does not have to be instrumental to be soothing. It has a slightly higher tempo so there’s contentment coupled with relaxation.

  1. GREEN DAY – GOOD RIDDANCE

This one is widely loved and something that will make you appreciate most of what you have accomplished. Let’s give room to turning points; this one’s it.

  1. JACK JOHNSON – BANANA PANCAKES

Not only the most de-stressing song out there among plenty; but will also inspire you to make banana pancakes.

  1.  FAR CASPIAN – FINDING MY WAY HOME

Far Caspian is a genre itself; they make you feel joyfully nostalgic and intuitive.

  1.  RADIOHEAD – DAYDREAMING

We’re going a little deep into our thoughts now. This song is a perfect embodiment of all the doors life leads us to open and reaching new places. In the end, all those doors mean finding yourself – alone. Be there for yourself. Look for success and happy phases of your life, but don’t forget to take care of yourself in the process.

  1. KHALID – VERTIGO

Khalid literally never disappoints.

  1.  BARCELONA – PLEASE DON’T GO

The lyrics of this song stir the kind of emotions you’d rather want at 2am; and the soft, almost raspy voice makes it sound like the singer’s crying. You might start crying, too. But crying always puts things into perspective, right? I’m sorry if you get too absorbed into this song – but really not.

  1. MARCONI UNION – WEIGHTLESS

This one was literally approved by sound therapists. Once you get hooked, your insomnia-driven nights would thank you.

  1. ALL SAINTS – PURE SHORES

YouTube Link

This critically acclaimed dream-pop creation relatively has that classic 2000s’ vibe. You can be alert and relaxed at the same time, which is the optimal state for many – even according to yoga practitioners. So, even though it’s uplifting and groovy, Pure Shores for shore deserves a spot on the most relaxing songs list. Yes, I did that.

  1.  ADELE – SOMEONE LIKE YOU

YouTube Link

“When the chorus breaks, Adele’s voice jumps on octave and belts out the notes with increasing volume”, a writer from The Daily Mail wrote.  At the same time, the harmony shifts and the lyrics becomes even more dramatic.” Perhaps at first you can’t really see why this song is relaxing, but someone who is highly stressed out just needs to let it all out with a good cry. Again, sorry – but not really.
